Project Description

Dear MSU Grand Traverse Area Spartans alumni, friends, families and students: Please help us to make a difference for every child by joining Michigan State University’s alumni, friends, families and students for our Grand Traverse Area Spartans’ annual “Global Day of Service” on Saturday morning, April 8 from 9:00 am until 12 noon … by becoming a “Team Zero” member. Team Zero is a public awareness program of the Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center, with an ever-growing “team membership” of individuals and organizations from throughout northwest Michigan committed to bringing the rate of child sexual abuse in our region to … zero! During the morning on Saturday, April 8, MSU Team Zero “Global Day of Service” volunteers will have the opportunity to learn about the work of the Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center, the reality of child sexual abuse in our community, and what it means to “join the team” that makes a difference. Together we’ll acquire the knowledge and skills that will help keep children safe and secure at home, at school, and in the community. Just one incidence of child sexual abuse is too much. It’s up to us – each of us – to keep children safe. Team Zero is here to help every adult learn how to TALK about sexual health with our children and each other; how to PROTECT children from sexual abuse; and, how to REPORT abuse and suspicious behavior. Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center’s Team Zero is underwritten, in part, by a multi-year financial commitment which has been made by Dr. Lou Anna K. Simon and the Office of the President, on behalf of Michigan State University via the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation. MSU’s “Global Day of Service” is our way of showcasing the extraordinary impact Spartans can make in a single day. This fifth annual organized and collaborative effort brings Spartans together from around the world to serve others in our communities while exemplifying the reach and impact of our “Spartans Will. Power” and “Spartan Network for Life!” Please plan to join us, on Saturday morning, April 8 at the Traverse Bay Children's Advocacy Center, by making your Team Zero - Spartan volunteer reservation today! Sincerely, Your MSU Grand Traverse Area Spartans Alumni Club
